Two schools in Banjarmasin, SDN Kebun Bunga 4 state elementary school and state junior high school of SMPN 11, have won the predicate of National Adiwiyata, Head of Banjarmasin Education Office Totok Agus Daryanto said here, Saturday (Jan 4, 2020).


"Now the total is three schools in Banjarmasin have gained the National Adiwiyata predicate from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry," he said

Previously, SDN Seberang Mesjid 1 Banjarmasin state elementary school have won the same predicate from the ministry in 2018.

With the increase of school that won the Adiwiyata at the national level in this region, it will create a great enthusiasm for other schools to also improve their beautiful, clean, and shady environment.

Because, Totok said, 14 schools have just won the 2019 Adiwiyata for the provincial level. They have opportunity to go to national level later.

"The most is in 2019 schools from 13 cities and districts in our area who took part in the provincial level assessment," he explained.

According to him, there are four indicators must be met in the Adiwiyata school requirements, namely environmentally sound policy, environment-based curriculum policy, participatory-based activities, plus environmentally friendly school facilities and infrastructure.

He pointed out that Adiwiyata school had become priority scale program for all schools from elementary to high school in the city, considering the program is important to instill values about maintaining cleanliness and environment preservation to students from early age.
