The municipal government of Banjarmasin through Public Works and Spatial Agency (Dispupr) disburses Rp114 billion to build four bridges in 2020, one of which is to open Bromo Island from isolation.

Bromo Island is a village area surrounded by rivers. It is in the form of a delta (a small island in the middle of a river) and belongs to the Mantuil Village, South Banjarmasin, with a distance of about 3 Km from Banjarmasin City. This region includes four RTs (neighborhood unit), namely 04, 05, 06, and 07.

Head of the agency Arifin Noor here on Tuesday (Jan 7, 2020) said, the four bridges to be built are suspension birdge on Bromo Island worth Rp47 billion.

Then, the HKSN bridge, which is the replacement of bridge construction next to the royal tom b of Sultan Suriansyah in Kuin amounted to Rp42 billion.

"Although the ceiling of the bridge construction is Rp66 billion, but it will be done in stages," he explained.

Furthermore, he continued, is the building of bridge on Jalan Sulawesi, North Banjarmasin, with the amount of Rp15 billion.

"Finally the Teluk Kelayan Bridge that we budget for Rp12 billion," said Arifin Noor.

According to him, the four bridges are the priority of development this year, with a target of being able to operate in 2021.

"This is as an effort by the city government to provide traffic access to be fulfilled well, especially for the construction of bridge on Bromo Isand which have been isolated for a long time," he pointed out.

He said, there are thousand of residents in Bromo who did not have access to land route. For years that had to use river transportation when ever they had to go to the city.

"Because the distance of the river that is crossed by the bridge is quite wide, then only suspension bridge is built, which can only be passed by two wheeled vehicles," he concluded.
