South Kalimantan Environment Agency has bestowed the Adiwiyata awards on 11 schools in the District of Tabalong for their efforts in preserving the environment and for making their schools environmentally friendly.
Head of the Tabalong Environment Agency Rowi Rawatianice said, in addition the district won the 2019 Adipura for the provincial level of South Kalimantan.
"Both Adiwiyata and Adipura should motivate all parties to give more care in managing the environment," she remarked.
Adiwiyata is the program of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to boost knowledge and awareness of school people in preserving the environment.
The program expects all school people to involve in school activities head to a healthy school environment and to avoid from negative impact of environment.
The awards from the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan received by state junir high school SMPN 3 Muara Uya, SMPN 2 Muara Uya, SMPN 8 Tanjung, SMPN 7 Tanjung, SMPN 4 Tanjung, and private junir high school SMP Hasbunallah. Then state vocational high school SMKN 1 Jaro, SMKN 1 Tanjung, SMKN 2 Tanjung, and state senior high school SMAN 1 Tanjung, and SMAN 1 Upau.
The 2019 Adipura award of provincial level was presented by the Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Abdul Haris Makkie to Head of the Tabalong Environment Agency Rowi Rawatianice.

Rowi said, the Adipura award was the result of hard works of all parties, both janitors and other elements of community.
"We continue our effort to educate people to do waste sorting based on types," she said.
Rowi added that nowadays almost all villages have clean village with gotong royong (mutual cooperation) program for the reason that cleanliness is the obligation not only the agency but all parties.
