The Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) together with Tanta Sub-district Leaders Coordination Forum (Forkopimca), Tabalong District, plating bamboo trees along the Mangkusip Riverside.


Tanta Sub-district Head Gusti Judid Ihsan Permana said the planting of betung bamboo was aimed at anticipating erosion along the Mangkusip River.

"In addition to supporting the Green Revolution Movement, planting bamboo to minimize erosion," Judid explained.

Bamboo betung seedlings of YABN assistance were planted by involving members of youth organization Karang Taruna Dewa Ruchi and Mekar Kencana Farmers Group. This tree planting activity is a series of 54th Anniversary of Tabalong District.
 
Judid said that Mangkusip River is the heart of Tanta Sub-district.

Bamboo betung was chosen for the reason it has a large stem and strong fiber roots that it can withstand soil from erosion caused by river streams.

It root can also be a filter against chemical residues in rivers.

As many as 500 bamboo seed were planted, 250 of them in Tanta Village, 200 in Puain Kanan Village, and 50 in Mangkusip Village.

"The target is to plant 1.000 trees of other types next yearto preserve Mangkusip River ecosystem," Judid explained.
