Banjarmasin , South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - City Government of Banjarmasin via the local Health Agency office managed to reduce the number of patients with upper respiratory tract infections (ISPA).

"Although at this time the city's air is full of smoke, but the data show the number of people with ISPA since January 
until now (October) on average 6,000 to 7,000 people per month, " said Head of Health Agency of Banjarmasin drg Hj Diah R Praswati on Wednesday.

She said experience in every year in the season of smoky air at least 40 thousand people suffer from ISPA per month. The decline in the number of patients with respiratory infections due to efforts made by health workers, subdistrict officers, and village officials.

Disease prevention efforts can be carried out, among others, through the administration of ISPA, through health workers and officers in 26 cummunity health centers (Puskesmas) in Banjarmasin .

Health officials continue to conduct outreach to the pockets of people who are risky exposed to smoky air, like in the suburbs, or the traffic users.

Health care workers also stand ready to share it free as many as 48 thousand masks to the public for avoiding the smoky air.

Other efforts through integrated management of motion sickness toddler, including ISPA disease prevention  to 
toddlers, she said.

Through the movement finally the subdistrict head, village heads, and their subordinate  given knowledge on various diseases including ISPA, then they provide counseling to people in each neighborhood on the importance of health, Diah R Praswati told.*** ***
