The Tanah Bumbu District Government has made a new breakthrough by empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to produce fishery products.

Head of Tanah Bumbu Fishery Office Fauraji Akbar here on Monday (Dec 23, 2019) said, they were asked to process fishery products in the form of snacks by using pangasius fish (patin) as raw material.

"This is a benchmark for the extent to which participants practiced the training given by  Maritime and Fisheries Product Processing and Biotechnology Research Center (BBRPPBKP) Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) before," he pointed out.

As a result, the small business artisans, mostly housewives, managed to make five types of snacks, including skin crackers, brownies, sponge cake, tik tik and samosa.

All products have their economic value being measured. "Economic calculation is important, to attract business players and housewives in developing these products," he said.

The practise of processing fishery products got the attention of Deputy Regent H Ready Kambo who conducted a direct visit.

According to H Ready Kambo, the use of fish as raw material into various processed products so they have higher commercial value will certainly help effort to continue to improve the welfare of community.
