Successfully empowering the role of women in welfaring family and reducing maternal and infant mortality brought Nelayan Village and Sungai Tabukan in North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District to win P2WKSS (Increasing Woman Role Toward Prosperous Family) and KSI (Child Love District) awards.


Head of the HSU Woman Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DPPPA) Hj Gusti Iskandariah here on Satudray (Dec 14, 2019) said, Nelayan Village won main predicate as executor in P2WKSS competition, while Sungai Tabukan won Child Love Sub-district (KSI) at the provincial level of South Kalimantan 2019.

"As many as 29 female heads of households, who have been empowered in Nelayan Village, were given sewing training and now have heir own business" Gusti pointed out.

She acknowledged that 15 of them were indeed classified as poor, then through guidance in P2WKSS program their economic lives become better.

"Now the become the driving force in the welfare of families," she told.

Meanwhile, as KSI program has been running in Sungai Tabukan Sub-district in the last on year no more cases of mothers or babies dying, thus the sub-district deserves an award as the main implementer of the program.

"We deliberately carry out P2WKSS and KSI program in on sub-district to facilitate coaching," Gusti explained.

The award was received by chief of the village and chairwoman of the PKK Nelayan and Head of SungaiTabukan Sub-district with its chairwoman of PKK witnessed by Head of DPPPA Hj Gusti Iskandariah and the ranks.
