The South Kalimantan Bureau of Indonesia National News Agency Antara awarded five inspiring figures as the "2019 South Kalimantan Amazing Women" here, Wednesday (Dec 4, 2019).


Suci Rabella was selected as an amazing woman in the category of education, Henni Sri Sukarni for economy-business, Dr Galuh Tantri Narindra in politics, law, and government, Gusti Rizsa Rayani in social and culture, and Adawiyah for health and environment.

"Congratulation to the recipients of the awards. They are all amazing women ho deserve high appreciation," said Antara Director of Finance, HR & General Nina Kurnia Dewi who submitted the awards.

Nina herself was specifically present as a form of appreciation to South Kalimantan Bureau whohad held such an inspiring event.

"I am so happy and welcome the 2019 South Kalimantan Amazing Women award. Hopefully the figures who received the award will continue to spread their kindness and inspiration to many women out there," said the only female figure in the board of directors of Antara.

While head of the bureau, Nurul Aulia Badar, revealed the five amazing women had fulfilled 15 perspective points of evaluation by external jury team consisting of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) academician Dr Andi Tenri Sompa, the Antasari State Islamic University (UIN) Banjarmasin Dr Hj Hayatun Naimah, and Kadarisman, Media Relation Section Head of PT Adaro Indonesia.

"Previously we selected more than 100 women in South Kalimantan to receive the award until we found 17 nominees to be scored by the jury to choose the five amazing women." explained the man who is familiarly called Olly.

Henni Sri Sukarni was chosen as a woman who inspired oyster mushroom cultivation in her village in Barito Kuala District. From knowing nothing, she learned a lot until she formed 10 farmer groups, who were then succeeded in improving the economy of the local community.

Adawiyah became the figure of environmental savior, when she took the initiative to build waste bank in her village, Langadai, Kotabaru. Then she played a role in preserving mangrove forest by involving other people, until their habit changed from taking mangrove tree trunks as firewood to then planted their seeds. The village with its preserved and beautiful mangrove turned into tourist destination.

Galuh Tantri was a savior of Martapura River, who succeeded in her program as head of R&D of the Banjar Development Planning Board (Bappeda) to save people health by eliminating thousands of floating latrines. 600 have so far been eliminated to changed them with healthy toilets.

Gusti Rizsa Rayani is a driving force for breastfeeding mothers in South Kalimantan. This woman is keen to campaign for exclusive breastfeeding to reduce infant mortality and at the same time to produce superior generations, including fighting for the existance of breastfeeding rooms in public facilities.

Finally Suci Rabella, a woman who is so concerned about education, especially among children and young people to prepare them as the next generation of the future South Kalimantan. She offered them some inovation, such as School (sharing, caring, helping, show your ways of living) to build and develop the goals. She also gives a free English courses.

The event to award amazing women was a series of 82nd Anniverary of the Indonesia National News Agency Antara which is celebrated on December 13, 2019.
