The District Administration of Tanah Bumbu exposed it plan to build Kusan Dam, as one of source of raw water for the local people.

Head of River and Beach Dept of the Tanah Bumbu Public Works and Spatial Agency (PUPR) Tritendy Rahmatilah noted in a press-release in Batulicin, Monday (Dec 2, 2019), that the plan has entered the stage of environment impact study (Amdal) since 2015.

"It was then continued with Detail Engineering Design (DED) to run to the end of 2019, and to be continued with Land Acquisition And Resettlement Action Plan (LARAP)," he remarked.

The expose of Amdal-LARAP, he said, was related to local socio-cultural economy, namely how to prevent people from being harmed.

The construction plan was then discussed with head of sub-district and related chiefs of villages. There are three villages are in the area of the dam, namely Mangkalapi, Tamunih, and Batu Bulan.

"The center of reservoir is in Mangkalapi, while the villages affected are Tamunih and Batu Bulan, but the biggest is in Tamunih," he said.

Based on information from the Ministry of PUPR, the physical work of the project to begin in 2020.

Given the size of the budget, the project will cost Rp2 trillion, there should be same stages to be passed and it will certainly take several years. 

In terms of benefit, Tritendi told the four functions of the dam, but the more importantly are irrigation for agriculture, flood control, clean water, and electricity needs.
