Banjarmasin  (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Onions from the Philippines are now entering the market of Banjarmasin, thus coloring the markets in the capital of province of South Kalimantan.

"Thank God we do not have onion scarcity like a few months ago, when the price had soared, reaching Rp50.000/Kg," said Hj Nurul (59), a resident of Banjarmasin on Saturday.

In addition, the price of Philippines onions are cheaper when compared with that of our own country, said the mother of two children told ANTARA South Kalimantan.

She said that the price of red onions from Bima that color the market about two months ago was Rp40.000/Kg to Rp23.000/Kg, but that of the Philippines is now Rp20.000/Kg.

"For the housewife mother, she was not too concerned about whether it's red onions from abroad (imports) or domestic, what essential is goods always available," she said.
