Banjarmasin Deputy Mayor H Hermansyah stated, the city must be prepared to become part of the state capital, as the president has stated that the capital will move to Kalimantan.

According to him, since President Joko Widodo decided to move the national capital from Jakarta to Kalimantan, all local governments were preparing to make it successful, including the City of Banjarmasin.

As the capital of the province, he continued, the city of Banjarmasin is a strategic area for cities of trade and services, moreover one of the options is that the national capital will be built in South Kalimantan.

South Kalimantan, he said, had prepared land in Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu Regencies not too far from Banjarmasin.

"Despite the fact that South Kalimantan will not be appointed as the national capital, for example the president decides in Central Kalimantan or East Kalimantan, Banjarmasin is still part of the Kalimantan region, which certainly gets its effects," he remarked here on Wednesday.

Hermansyah hopes that the news Banjarmasin City Council members should start thinking about the plan of the national capital relocate to Kalimantan, support the steps of the city government in improving infrastructure as part of the national capital where Banjarmasin must be prepared from now on to become a part.
