South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Police Yazid Fanani jumped in directly leading the extinguishing of burned land in Banjarbaru. which happened on Sunday (11/8) night.
The two-star police general came after receiving a report from the Banjarbaru Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya that a peatland fire broke out in the local city.
Previously, a hotspot appeared on Jalan Kurnia Ujung Km 23, Landasan Ulin Sub-district, Banjarbaru, on midnight Sunday. The Chief of Police together with Karo Ops Sr Comr Pol Isdiyono, Chief of Brimob Sr Comr Pol Ardiyansyah Daulay and the Banjarbaru Police Chief immediately checked and swiftly put it out.
According to the Regional Police Chief, the Landasa Ulin is indeed one of the areas gain special attention because there is Syamsudin Noor Airport. The smoke haze due to the burning of land is feared to disrupt flights.
"No matter how small the fire that appears must be extinguished immediately so as not to spread. Do not underestimate, members must be swift in extinction," said the Chief of Police in Banjarbaru.
