Kotabaru, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) – The Kotabaru Transportation Agency asked the Ministry of Transportation to fully investigate the cause of the explosion of PLM Setia Budi passenger ship at the Port of Panjang, Kotabaru on Wednesday.
"We have asked the Ministry of Transportation (MoT) immediately investigate the cause of the explosion of vessel which killed seven passengers," said Head of the Transportation Agency Sugian Noor in Kotabaru, Monday (13/5).
During this time, said Sugian, marine transportation accidents often occur in the Kotabaru and should be a valuable lesson for such a disaster does not happen again. The government should also look for a solution how to provide safe transportation services for the community.
In addition to thoroughly investigate the cause of the explosion vessel Setia Budi, Sugian also asked legality ship operations that serve the Port of Panjang Kotabaru to Geronggang to be reviewed by the harbor master and the Port Authority of Kotabaru.
The Kotabaru Resort Police AKBP Yudha Rosyanto explain the investigation of explosion of the ship is under way. The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained while awaiting the results of the investigation team of the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) Surabaya.
Head of the Kotabaru Water Police Inspector Sumari argued Labfor Team have taken some samples from shipwrecks and other goods for the sake of the investigation.
Motor Boat (PLM) Setia Budi was serving routes Kotabaru-Geronggang in Kotabaru District, Wednesday (8/5) when it exploded around 11:00 am, and burned, killing seven passengers.
