South Kalimantan is ranked 6th in drug abuse, but is among the top 10 provinces that are the fastest in its prevention.
Drug abuse in South Kalimantan reached 1.97 percent, or has about 59,590 abusers. While the number of drug abuse in Indonesia reached 1.77 percent or around 3,376,115 people.
"South Kalimantan is ranked 6th nationally in drug abuse. But since the P4GN ( national strategy for the eradication of the abuse and trafficking of the illicit substance) National Action Plan has been socialized, it become the top 10 provinces has a quick response," said the Head of Prevention and Community Empowerment of the South Kalimantan National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) Ifansyah at a Beranda Humas tapping event at the South Kalimantan Public Relation, last weekend.

According to him, illicit drug trafficking in South Kalimantan occurs mostly in provincial border areas, at ports and airports. However, circulation has been thwarted, because of the good cooperation between the local government as well as related institutions and the community.

During 2018, the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) and BNNP succeeded in securing 76,851.01 grams of narcotic type of methamphetamine, 24,570 ecstasy pills, 396.94 grams of marijuana, 13.24 grams of gorilla tobacco, and 754,302 drugs.
