Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Drug abuse in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, has caused three people died from an overdose.
Head of the HSU Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) Sugeng Riyadi in Amuntai on Monday said the death toll during the second quarter of 2015 as many as three people due to over dosage.
"Many of the victims died becauses of drug abuse," he said.
Sugeng said that, in addition to overdose many victims died in traffic accidents as a result of taking drugs. In fact, many people with mental illness cases were referred to the Mental Hospital due to drug use.
Police officers of HSU Resort Police, said Sugeng, also managed to secure evidence about 4.5 million of illegal drugs of various kinds which are still in the legal process.
The increasing proliferation of drug trafficking become concern of various groups, so that at the beginning of October 2015 the various elements of society signed the petition that encouraged drug eradication.
A total of 7,000 citizens signed a petition submitted to the DPRD HSU some time ago.
"By the assembly it followed-up with a meeting with all the stakeholders to produce an agreement and the acceleration of the process through the National Narcotics Agency (BNND)HSU and anti-drug movement," he explained.
