Xpress Air begins to fly from Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Airport for a round trip destination of Adisutjipto Yogyakarta Airport.

"Xpress Air is certainly a new choice for people in South Kalimantan for their trip to Yogyakarta and so people in Java, especially the City of Gudeg to travel to Banjarmasin," said General Manager of Syamsudin Noor Airport Indah Preastuty who acknowledged very pleased with the the presence of Xpress Air to serve the route to Banjarmasin.

She hoped, Xpress Air in the future would open another route to other cities from Syamsudin Noor.

"As the development project (Syamsudin Noor Airport) is completed at the end of this year, hopefully it can spur other airlines to open routes from and to Banjarmasin," she said.

Xpress Air's Commercial Director Fanny Andri said, the Banjarmasin-Yogyakarta route and vice versa was quite potential because many South Kalimantan residents were taking higher education in Yogyakarta.

From the tourism sector, Yogyakarta is also one of the favorite destinations for South Kalimantan residents who take vacation in Java.

"For the time being we are open three days a week, namely Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Yogyakarta-Banjarmasin schedule departs at 9:20 and arrives in Banjarmasin at 12:10 WITA (Central Indonesia Time), and flights from Banjarmasin to Yogyakarta at 16.10 WITA," he explained.

Fanny added, Xpress Air will also open the Banjarmasin route to Banyuwangi and a number of other routes are still being explored.

Xpress Air provides free snacks and baggage services up to 20 kilograms.
