South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Yazid Fanani expressed gratitude for the security and public order situation (kamtibmas) conducive during the Idul Fitri 1440 Hijriyah holidays along with the implementation of the 2019 Ketupat Intan Operation.
"Thank God, the situation is secure and controlled from Ramadhan to Eid al-Fitr and after Eid. Likewise the homecoming and return flows smoothly without any prominent events. It's just that we are still a concern for traffic accidents have caused the victims to die," Yazid said in here on Thursday.
He also expressed his gratitude to the people who have maintained the community's conduciveness till they experienced the sweetness of safe and peaceful a situation.
Likewise for the officers who are members of the Ketupat Intan centralized police operation, the police chief appreciated their dedication to the community to be able to enjoy lebaran (post-fasting festivities) comfortably.
"God willing, the tasks carried out honestly and sincerely are worth worshiping in the sight of Allah SWT," said the two-star police general.
Marking the end of the operation, the South Kalimantan Regional Police held the consolidation ceremony on courtyard of the South Kalimantan Police Headquarters.
South Kalimantan Regional Secretary, Abdul Haris Makkie, who represented the Governor, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the joint officers in securing the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
"The flow of homecoming and the return flow went smoothly thanks to the readiness of members in the field, both on land transportation routes commanded by the traffic police, air and sea lines," he said.
Present at the ceremony a number of members of the regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda), such as The Provincial 101 Antasari Military Commander Colonel Inf. Mohammad Syech Ismed, Banjarmasin Naval Base Commander Marine Colonel (P) Wijayanto, member of DPRD Supian HK and Chairperson of the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) Dr. H Mirhan and other leaders and relevant agencies.
Meanwhile, the number of traffic accidents during the Eid homecoming flow this year has increased significantly compared to the same moment last year.
Based on data from the Traffic Directorate of South Kalimantan Regional Police, during the 13 days of 2019 Ketupat Intan Operation occurred 29 accidents and 14 people died. While in 2018 only 13 incidents killed eight people.
