Tabalong Forest Management Unit (KPH) built an orchid conservation house by collaborating with the Bunga Sari Forest Farmers Group in Garagata Village, Jaro Sub-district.


Head of KPH's Utilization Section Aidil Fahruraji said the conservation house is to multiply and preserve the types of orchids in Tabalong district.

"This orchid conservation house is part of the community forest management in Garagata Village," Aidil explained.

The type of orchid is taken from the forest area and around the KPH management area of Tabalong, including moon orchids (Paraphalaenopsis serpentilingua) and black orchids (Coelogyne Pandurata).

Meanwhile, several types of orchids taken from the Meratus Mountains with varying types.

"We will cultivate and preserve this orchid for the preservation of the species in Tabalong," Aidil explained.

In the future the KPH and Bunga Sari Forest Farmers Group will make conservation houses a source of income for local residents.
