Labor Day or May Day in Banjarmasin on Wednesday, which was usually colored with a demonstration this time filled with various events full of excitement.
The fun walk, which was attended by around 4,000 workers from the mining, plantation, timber and other business sectors, opened by Governor Sahbirin Noor.
Starting from the 0 kilometer Siring attraction, the workers walked along the main road of Banjarmasin City to City Hall and rolled back to the starting place with a distance of 5 kilometers.
Governor Sahbirin Noor said the government must be present to improve the welfare of the community regardless of their profession.
Before the fun walk, workers' representatives delivered 5 points of aspiration to the governor. They demanded a revision of Government Regulation (PP) No. 78 of 2015 concerning wages by forming a joint team involving trade union elements.
Furthermore, the improvement of BPJS Kesehatan (Health Care and Social Security Agency) and employment services, the availability of labor housing at affordable prices, protection of victims of layoffs and unemployment, and protection of migrant workers.
