Deputy Regent closes 2026 Kotabaru Imtaq improvement Competition

Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Deputy Regent H. Syairi Mukhlis closed the 2026 Kotabaru Youth Faith and Piety (Imtaq) Improvement Competition. This was the culmination of a five-day series of competitions, held from May 30 to June 3, 2026.

"Imtaq activities play an important role in shaping the character of the younger generation, who are not only intellectually superior but also strong in spiritual values," he said in Kotabaru on Wednesday.

He stated this activity was held to produce a young generation with noble morals, strong faith, and capable of making a positive contribution to regional development.

Deputy Regent expressed his appreciation for the high level of participation from various sub-districts, who demonstrated enthusiasm for deepening religious values.

The competition was organized by the Kotabaru Tourism, Youth, and Sport Office as part of the 76th anniversary ceebration of Kotabaru.

A total 137 participants from 15 sub-districts took part in various competitions, including adzan subuh (subuh prayer call), tilawah Al-Qur’an (Qur’an recitation), fahmil Qur’an (Qur’an quizzes), syarhil Qur’an (Qur’an art and preaching), and ceramah agama (religious lectures).

Head the Kotabaru Tourism, Youth, and Sport Office Kamaruddin said that the event also served as a means of developing mental and spiritual well-being of younger generation.

“The best participants will be prepared to represent Kotabaru at the South Kalimantan Provincial level,” he explained.

The closing ceremony was also enlivened by various art performance by students, including poetry readings, Muslim fashion show.

The committee then announced the competition winners. Several participants from Pulau Sembilan sub-district won the competition in several categories, including subuh prayer call and religious lectures.
