Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjarbaru City has successfully defended the highest title of environmental management, the Adipura 2018.


Vice President Jusuf Kalla handed over the award for the category of the medium city to Mayor of Banjarbaru Nadjmi Adhani in the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Jakarta, Monday (1/14).

"We have dedicated the Adipura to the community because all components of the community have struggled to maintain cleanliness and the environment in Banjarbaru," said the mayor.

The success, he said, is the support of all related working units (SKPD), including the important role of the community and environmental activists in Banjarbaru who work hand in hand according to their role.

"The Adipura award must be a motivation in an effort to organize and maintain the environment. I hope that Adipura becomes an encouragement for all to do the best for the environment," he said.

As per the prepared agenda, the Adipura trophy arrived in Banjarbaru, Tuesday (1/15) morning and to be paraded around the city as a form of pride and appreciation for the entire community.

Previously, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said, every local government should maintain the award through a concerted effort to move the culture of the community to maintain cleanliness.

"My message is that clean brings cleanliness because the environment is clean, so the people will be reluctant to dispose of litter and play a role in maintaining cleanliness," he said.

LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar said the Adipura 2018 award was given to 119 cities and districts after a rigorous selection related to environmental hygiene management.
