Marabahan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan, Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS established the Bakut Island natural tourism park under the Barito Bridge as a tourist area for the public.
"I really appreciate the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) which has worked hard to improve Bakut Island to become an attractive tourist destination as well as a place of education for the community, especially students," said Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS in Marabahan on Wednesday.
As a follow-up, she said to support the attraction with an access road, transportation means, and merchant outlets to involved local people, especially Marabahan Baru and Beringin villagers.
"We expect this attraction to benefit not only for visitors but for local people to raise their economy," she said.
Separately, Head of South Kalimantan BKSDA Mahrus Aryadi said Pulau Bakut is a habitat for proboscis monkeys or bekantan (Nasalis Larvatus) with an area of 15.8 hectares and is very strategically located near the city, cheap, and visitors can learn.
At present, he said, Bakut Island has been equipped with a number of facilities with BKSDA and PT Adaro Indonesia financing about Rp1.6 billion. Here there is a mushalla, a ticket window, a 630-meter footbridge, a tower of view, and a toilet.
"The plan is to have a craft area, culinary, including bringing the community of animal activists to be displayed on certain days," he said.
Head of South Kalimantan Tourism Agency Dahnial Kifli said he was very welcomed the efforts and breakthroughs of BKSDA and Barito Kuala. Their steps, according to him, along with the preparation of South Kalimantan to welcome the Welcome Visit of South Borneo.
In fact, Dahnial plans will make Bakut Island as part of a tour package in collaboration with travels.
