"This is in accordance with the data in the Banjarmasin main waste bank, the total value of economic waste is collected about 1.5 tons per month," said Head of Sanitation and Waste Management of Environment Agency Maflani here, Thursday.
According to him, there is an increase in the number compared to previous years, because the number of garbage banks also continues to grow.
"The municipality continues to support the community to forme the garbage bank because it is a big enough help to overcome the waste to dispose to the waste final disposal (TPA) in Basirih," explained Maflani.
The city government not only provides weighing equipment for garbage banks but keeps it active to grow the marketable creative products.
"Many garbage banks in our area are already able to recycle, and the products are marketed, big enough to help the economy of its members," Maflani said.
Garbage production in this city reaches 620 tons per day so not all is discharged to the landfill, while it needs sorting places like garbage bank.
"Not only waste banks, TPS3R is also very helpful to reduce waste disposal to the landfill, even the number is quite large about 200 tons per month," he said.
Meanwhile, with the establishment of 14 points of Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) or TPS3R, Banjarmasin has been able to sort out about 10.47 percent of the waste before disposal to the landfill.
