Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 25/4 (AntaranewsKalsel) - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo was fascinated to see the handicrafts from Tapin District in the form of cap made of jangang tree root that only exist in the jungle of Kalimantan.
When entering Tapin exhibition booth in Banjarbaru, Tuesday, Mrs. Iriana Jokowi directly took a jangang hat and buy it with the price of Rp300 thousand.
Jangang skullcap is one of the crafts produced by artisans from Margasari Sub-district. It made from roots of jangang tree, and processed with a high level of complexity.
In one month, a craftsman only able to produce one jangang cap, because it is done manually, so the price is relatively quite expensive compared to the usual cap, with the price reached Rp300 thousand.
This cap is quite popular in the market, in addition to the model is quite unique also when used we do not feel hot, because the condition of the cap is not fully closed.
Even the former President Gus Dur also quite often wore this typical Tapin roots jangang, in various occasions, in addition to some other state officials.
Chairman of TP PKK Tapin Ratna Ellyani Arifin Arpan said, in addition to jangang skullcap, the first lady was very interested in Tapin typical crafts in the form of purun bag that is made from purun plant.
"When First Lady Iriana came to Tapin's booth, she bought jangang caps, Tapin typical sasirangan cloth, and purun bag," Ratna said.
The purun bag and jangang skullcap craftsman Mashadi admitted very happy and grateful, because the handicrafts glimpsed by the first lady.
"Hopefully Tapin craft can be better known throughout Indonesia, especially when the cap is used by the president, of course very proud," he hoped.
