Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT Tanjung Power Indonesia (TPI) and PT Makmur Sejahtera Wisesa (MSW) recevied an award from the District Government of Tabalong, South Kalimantan, for their contribution in environment by utilizing ash and waste.
Acting Tabalong Regent Hamida Munawarah said waste processing at the source (TOSS) and Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA) utilization initiated by the two companies was proof that their active role can create positive impact on the environment and community.
"We really appreciate PT TPI and PT MSW contribution in supporting environment conservation and community empowerment," said Hamida here Tueday.
Their contribution is considered to be very supportive of joint efforts to protect the environment while empowering communities through innovative CSR programs.

Acting Regent handed over the award at the Environment Day commemoration on Jalan Nan Sarunai Tanjung Baru.
PT TPI and PT MSW's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was a form of their commitment in green energy conversion campaign.
TOSS program is conducted to process organic waste into biomass pellets as raw material for co-firing in their coal-fired power plant (PLTU) electricity generation. Co-firing aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuel and reduce carbon emissions.
In this program, PT TPI dan PT MSW collaborated with local community, especially Tanjung Selatan Bersinar TPS 3R (site for reducing, reusing, recycling waste) in collecting and processing organic waste.
Not only help reducing the amout of waste to be ended at the final disposal, but this program provides a more environmentally friendly source of alternative.
In addition to TOSS, PT TPI and PT MSW are also known for their initiative in utilizing FABA waste from coal burning process at PLTU.
Instead of tossing out the waste, the two companies process it into bricks with good quality that can be used by the community in Tabalong District.
CSR Section Head of PT TPI Ikroman, representing PT TPI and PT MSW, said he was very proud and grateful for the award given by the Tabalong government.
"This award is a recognition of our commitment to the environment through ash and waste utilization," he said.
The companies'effort, according to him, is not only help reducing the environmental impact, but also provided real benefits to the surrounding community.
"We will continue to innovate and strive to increase positive contribution to the environment and community," he said.
