Balangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Balangan continues to develop fish seed cultivation and breeding using bioflocs system.


Head of Local Fish Seed Center at Gunung Manau, Sub-district ofBatumandi, Ilmi Arifin said the bioflocs fish farming is by growing microorganisms to process cultivation waste itself into small clumps (floc) useful as natural fish food.

The growth of microorganisms spur by providing a non-pathogenic bacterial cultures (probiotics), and installation of aerator that will supply oxygen as well as stirring up the pool water.

"Bioflocs system is actually have been developed in developed countries, such as Japan, Brazil, Australia and others. In our country many have adopted the system, including Balangan. It can also be developed for catfish and freshwater prawns," he explained.

After successfully implementing the system, Balangan through Gunung Manau Fish Seed Center will continue to fish breeding and seed development.

"This year we will repair 10 pools with a budget of Rp1.3 billion through the Special Allocation Fund (DAK), 'he said.

In addition to remodeling the pool is also available pure budget funds Rp200 million for the construction of a biofloc, plus Rp85 million to purchase 10 other bioflocs pools, while Rp60 million for the purchase of heifers.
