Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT PLN continues to strengthen the electricity transmission and distribution network in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to ensure zero downtime (ZDT) electricity supply during the ASEAN Summit on May 9-11, 2023.
President Director of the state-owned electricity company Darmawan Prasodjo noted that PLN had built various network utilities at the Labuan Bajo Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) to provide ZDT electricity.
"This is a form of our commitment to support Labuan Bajo as a super-priority tourism destination area and as the host for the 42nd ASEAN Summit," Prasodjo noted in his statement received here, Wednesday.
Meanwhile, General Manager of the PLN Main Unit for the East Nusa Tenggara Region (UIW NTT), I Gede Agung Sindu Putra, remarked that electricity in Labuan Bajo is supplied from the Flores system via a 150-kilovolt (kv) and 70-kv transmission network, with a supply capacity of 99.18 megawatts (mw) and a peak load of 84.43 mw.
He said that his side is working towards maintaining the reliability of electricity in Labuan Bajo by rehabilitating the distribution network in the electricity system.
"The rehabilitation of the distribution network is divided into several stages of work, such as the work of unloading and sliding the network, the work of unloading the poles, and the work of withdrawing the 20-kV medium voltage land cable channel (SKTM) distribution network in the super-premium area," Putra explained.
For now, PLN has reorganized medium voltage overhead lines (SUTM) into SKTM, replaced distribution pole substations with portal ring main unit (RMU) substations, and replaced low voltage overhead lines (SUTR) with low voltage cable lines (SKTR), he revealed.
Moreover, Putra said that PLN will also continue to support government programs by meeting the electricity needs of community health centers (puskesmas) in remote sub-districts in several districts in NTT.
"In NTT, especially for the Flores electricity system, PLN continues to develop new renewable energy (EBT) generators, namely 30-megawatt peak (MWp) solar power plants (PLTS) with large capacity batteries," he stated.
