Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The biodiesel processing plant owned by PT Adaro Indonesia is still producing by utilizing used cooking oil from around the coal mining operation.
Since 2018 the processing plant at kilometer 69 Road Hauling has been able to produce 1,100 liters of biodiesel per day to fuel the company's 10 cars.
"We used cooking oil from the company's catering forbiodiesel production," said Deputy QHSE Division Head Didik Triwibowo in Tanjung, Tuesday.
The type of fuel used, said Didik, is B30 so that the use of used cooking oil as an addition is smaller, only about 5 percent.
Adaro no longer need large quantity of used cooking oil, as at the beginning of biodiesel processing in 2019, which reached 20 percent of used cooking oil and 80 percent diesel.
Previously, Adaro partnered the village-owned company (BUMDes) of Berkah Bersama in Maburai Village, Murung Pudak Sub-district, to meet the need of used cooking oil.
Didik said one liter of used cooking oil can produce 0.96 liter of biodiesel.
"We use one time of biodiesel production for one month, because the car units that use this fuel are still limited," he added.

One of the administrators of BUMDes Berkah Bersama Dewi Lestari confirmed the cessation of the supply of used cooking oil for Adaro's biodiesel production.
"During the pandemic, BUMDes no longer supplies used cooking oil to Adaro," Dewi explained.
Nevertheless, BUMDes still accomodates used cooking oil from the community to be supplied to licensed collectors in Banjarmasin City.
