Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Chairwoman of the Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Regional House of Representative (DPRD) Suwanti supported local government to have fire station (damkar) in each sub-district (kecamatan).
"It makes it faster to handling fire accidents, especially in land-based areas," said Suwanti while attending the ianuguration of the Kelumpang Hilir sector fire station in Tegal Rejo Village as reported on Thursday.
She suggested that, in addition to facilities and infrastructure, local government also pay attention to safety, and employment protection of volunteers involved in firefighting.
"We in DPRD always support local government policies to realize vision and mission, including in firefighting,” she pointed out.

However, Suwanti urged the public to continue taking preventive measures, especially now in the dry season that the potential for fires is very high.
Head of Public Order and Firefighting Agency Yudi Ridhani said that related to fire station the most important thing is human resources and infrastructure.
He stated that the agency will prepare the necessary personnel. Without the support of human resources and equipment, it is feared to repeating the past problems that the facilities cannot be maximized.
