Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Police Chief AKBP Gafur Siregar responded to fishermen' complaints about fishing vessels with cantrang that operated illegally in the local waters.
"I have ordered sector police chief and chief of water police unit if they find ship using cantrang fishing gear they must be arrested," said Gafur in Kotabaru, Monday.
He affirmed that sector police chief and chief of water police unit had signed a contract with him, if they cannot take action and fishermen still complaining the same thing, then there are consequences that must be borne.
According to Gafur, a quick response must be showned to every public complaint and a solution to every problem.
"Don't let people take justice into their own hands. I have given an explanation to fishermen, please entrust the tackling of this cantrang ship to the police," sad the police chief who successfully uncovered an online lon syndicate controlled by a Chinese citizen.

The complaint about cantrang vessel was previously expressed by the fishermen in Kelumpang Utara Sub-district when they met with the police chief at the local police office.
Pamu Abu who represented the fisherment said that their catch was decreased due to the cantrang vessel that were still operating illegally.
"We are grateful to the police chief who has listened to our aspiration. We hope that all cantrang ships to be punished," he said.
