Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Military District Command (Kodim) of 1007/Banjarmasin, the rank of the 101/Antasari Provincial Military Command (Korem), distributed 70,000 freshwater fish seeds to help fish farmers in the city.
"Fish seeds are distributed to groups of fish breeders who cultivate fish along the Banua Anyar riverbank, East Banjarmasin," said the Commander of Kodim 1007/Banjarmasin Col. Inf. Oki Andriansyah Adiwirya, Friday.
Kodim distributed seeds of pangasius fish, pomfret, catfish, and tilapia. Oki hopes that the fish farmers will be successful in their cultivation until harvesting.
"Hopefully the results are good and raise the economic level of the community and at the same time to meet the fish supply in the market," he said.
Oki explained that the distribution of fish seeds is part of the Tangguh Mulawarman Program, which is now being carried out by all ranks of the TNI to support national food security that is being echoed by the government.
He expressed his gratitude to the Mandiangin Freshwater Cultivation Fisheries Center (BPBAT) of the of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries's Directorate General of Aquaculture for helping provide fish seeds to be distributed to the farmers.
Meanwhile, Jaya Kusuma, Head of the Fish Cultivators Association, who received the seed assistance, thanked the Banjarmasin Kodim and BPBAT.
"As floating cage fish cultivators we hope that our marketing can also be assisted, so that the market price of fish can be as expected," he said.
