Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Some 200 residents' houses in the sub-districts of South Daha, North Daha, and West Daha, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), were swamped due to the high tides along the river basin areas (DAS) of Nagara and flooding from upstream rivers.
Head of HSS Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Syamsudin in Nagara on Monday (Dec 13, 2021) said the rising of river water began to inundate residential areas Friday afternoon (Dec 10, 2021) until today.
"The increase was due to the high sea tide entering Barito River to then head to Nagara river basin, as well as delivery from areas at the upstream and HSS itself," he said.
Even though water discharge continues to increase, residents still doing their activities as usual. The temporary report said that the water has so far inundated 200 houses, in addition to a number of roads in the district and villages in three sub-districts.
