Fire Victims Need Books

Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Victims of a fire in the District of Kotabaru expect help in the form of school supplies, like bags, books, pencils, and others.

Head of the Kotabaru's Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Tri Basumi Rahmat here on Monday said, in addition to basic food items, the victims also expected assistance in the form of school supplies.

"Because the majority of victims could not secure goods and school equipment, so this time they really need it," said Basuki.

Of the approximately 223 people or about 69 families who were victims of the fire, are school age, from kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, high school and college.

No assistance in the form of stationery so far. The victims were forced to carry what left for school, and utilize aid money Rp500 thousand to each family.

Basuki explained, current mitigation post at the location of the fire as well already has received support from donors and the community, either collected by a number of college students, and the general public , as well as those submitted directly to the post.

Among other things, the money around Rp69 million, rice, instant noodles, soy sauce, chili sauce, cooking oil, canned fish, milk, sugar, coffee, tea, used clothes, used shoes, and bathing and washing equipment, as well as others.

Attending physician Dr. Deni at fire command post said that most victims of contracted with diarrheal disease, and complain of abdominal pain, frequent bowel movements, less fatigue excited, headache.

He admitted, since day two after fire, patients gradually increased, types of patient complaints varied,  ranging from diarrhea, dizziness, and weakness less excited.

Fire occurred on Thursday (3/4) at around 19:33 that led to 223 inhabitants or 69 families lost their homes.
