Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - City Government (Pemkot) Banjarmasin develop culinary tourism to reinforce the local nickname as a waters tourist attraction.

"The site chosen for the culinary tourist development on the banks of the Martapura River on the Jalan Pos," said Head of Social Affairs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Agency, Hamli Kursani to the press here on Tuesday.

Now 50 stalls are being built along the Jalan Pos that will be occupied by 50 selected merchants. A variety of local culinary specialties will be served here, such as yellow rice, laksa, katupat Kandangan, pancake and Banjar specialties and a 41 kind of traditional cakes.

Provision of the culinary attraction in an effort to strengthen the nickname of the city and as a tourist area and make the river waters as an area of local economic growth.

Banjarmasin has minimal natural resources such as forests, mining, and agriculture. Banjarmasin only rich of rivers. There are 104 rivers that will be driving the economy through tourism.

Hamli Kursani estimate next month the site ready to be visited. Access to the site is easy, either by road or waterway.  *** ***
