"Our hope is that the younger generation to be pro-active and consistent in disseminating positive content whose purpose is to build through social media that is used daily," he said on Banjarbaru, Monday.
Deputy Mayor was speaking on the sidelines of the Positive Social Media Gathering which invited social media activists, netizens, bloggers, and youtuber in Banjarbaru and South Kalimantan.
"At present, social media is the right promotional tool for the development of the creative economy in Banjarbaru so we strongly support this information technology-based activity," he said.
Expert Staff in the Field of Multiculturalism, Social Restoration and National Identity of the Coordinating Human Development and Culture Ministry (Kemenko PMK) Haswan Yunas said the number of internet users in Indonesia has increased every year.
"The latest data in 2019, the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 150 million people. Kalimantan Island became the third largest contributor to the number of internet users," he said.
According to Haswan, the large number of internet users made South Kalimantan chosen as the location of the Positive Social Media Gathering which was attended by hundreds of participants.
