Barabai, (Antaranews.Kalsel) - Greenpeace in cooperation with the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples of the Archipelago (AMAN) signed an agreement to build a Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) in Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Regency, South Kalimantan.
Secretary-General for AMAN Centers, Abdon Nababan in Barabai, HST capital, Sunday, said hydropower development or microhydro energy with Greenpeace reserved for indigenous peoples.
"The area has great potential for custom development of microhydro energy as an alternative energy needs," he said when met after the implementation Resurrection Memorial Day of the Indigenous Peoples in Barabai Sunday.
For HST, microhydro energy will be built in the Village Balai Kiyu, Hinas Kiri, sub-district of Batang Alai Timur (BAT).
He said, microhydro energy development in Central Kiyu to support operational Dayak Community Radio, Suara Kiyu Meratus or Voice of Kiyu Meratus that have built by local indigenous Dayak Meratus with AMAN in 2012 ago.
Dayak Community Radio itself is meant to provide easy access to information for indigenous Dayak Meratus for those residential areas in the mountains unreachable to phone signal. In addition to producing their own news, the manager will be working one with private radio station in Jakarta and access news from LKBN Antara.
