The Transportation Ministry's Air Director General Polana B. Pramesti leads the plane's ramp check (safety inspection) at Syamsudin Noor Airport on Friday (7/6).
A Garuda Indonesia aircraft that was preparing to fly carrying passengers was the target for detailed inspection.
Polana, accompanied by examining staff, namely the airworthiness inspector, flight operation inspector, cabin safety inspector, and aircraft dispatcher inspector, looked at a number of aircraft components, such as wheels, gas turbines, luggage space to the cockpit, to meet the pilot who was ready in the wheelhouse.
"The actual ramp check is carried out every day when the plane will take off to ensure it is airworthy. However, especially during the Lebaran homecoming moment, the supervision is added," said Polana.
She also ensured that all 546 aircraft serving the Lebaran homecoming this year had been inspected. In fact, ramp check is done more than 1,000 times.
"This means that one aircraft has been carried out a two to three times ramp check specifically in this Lebaran homecoming moment," she pointed out.
According to Polana, she wanted to ensured a sense of security and comfort for travelers who use air transportation. Ramp checks and runway inspections are carried out to ensure the safety and security of passengers.
