The Government of South Kalimantan Province through the Public Works Office ensures starting this year to renovate the 17 Mei Stadium Banjarmasin which is home to Barito Putera's football club.

Construction planning, according to Head of Public Work Agency Roy Rizali Anwar, has been running since January 2019.

"Starting from the beginning of the year we made the planning design, in May it has been put into physical work auction. So we are very committed to making it happen," he said when Governor had an iftar with sports people at the 17 Mei Stadium.

He stated, the design of the renovation already existed. The first to renovate this year is the VIP stands. "The initial budget for the renovation of the stadium is IDR13.5 billion," he said.

The reason, he continued, the stands of VIP spectators will be totally overhauled, because the existing buildings are old and do not fulfi the standard anymore. "So the roof is raised, including the seats, we make it as good as possible with national and even international standards," said Roy.

To renovate the Banjarmasin pride stadium as a whole, until it meets national and international standards, said Roy, a budget of Rp290 billion is needed.

"Therefore the renovation of the stadium is carried out by the multi-year system, which is gradually budgeted," he said.

According to him, Governor H. Sahbirin Noor asked that the stadium to be renovated as soon as possible and operate again as a proud stadium for Barito Putera's football club.

"And other soccer fields for football clubs in this province," he said.
