Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry`s spokesman, Arrmanatha Nasir, confirmed in a message, Monday, that an Indonesian woman killed in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash was a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) staffer and Rome resident.

Indonesian Ambassador to Italy Esti Andayani earlier said she had met the family of the Indonesian victim in Rome and expressed condolences.

On Sunday, the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Flight 302 aircraft plummeted to the ground shortly after takeoff, killing 157 people, including one Indonesian woman.

The flight departed from Bole Airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 a.m. local time, before losing contact with the control tower just a few minutes later at 8:44 a.m. local time.

Seven of the victims were crew members, while one was a security official, an airline spokeswoman revealed.

The passengers were from 35 nations, the airline stated, with the highest number from Kenya.

The Indonesian Government has conveyed its condolences to the families of the victims over the accident.

The United Nations confirmed that 19 of its staff members were among those killed in the accident.

The staff members worked for the World Food Programme, the Office of the High Commissioner on Refugees, the International Telecommunications Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization, International Organization for Migration in South Sudan, World Bank and UN Assistance Mission in Somalia, and the UN Office in Nairobi, the New York Times reported.

Those dead included at least 32 Kenyans; 18 Canadians; nine each from Ethiopia and France; eight each from the United States, China, and Italy; and seven from Britain, according to the airline, officials, and news accounts.

Addis Ababa and Nairobi are home to offices of the United Nations. However, flight between the cities may have been carrying a particularly high number of United Nations workers, as it was the day before a session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, described as the world`s highest-level decision-making body on the environment.
