Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Operational Director of PDAM Bandarmasih, Banjarmasin City, H Supian stated that it would take several days before the water could flow to the end customers.

After meeting the Banjarmasin DPRD on Monday, he said, the rupture of the main pipe that drained raw water in Abumbun Jaya Village, Sungai Tabuk Subdistrict, Banjar, on February 1 resulted in a total disruption of distribution to customers.

As a result, about three days of pipe repairs were carried out in the Sungai Tabuk water intake area. The water in the network pipe was empty and filled with air.

"It takes quite a long time to fill the pipeline, because the length of the pipe, large to small, is 1,000 kilometers, even more," he explained.

Therefore, he said, filling the water in the pipeline requires enough time to be completely full, until the distribution is strong enough to the periphery.

"Indeed, at present our water distribution has not been smoothly in the periphery, but has not stopped," he said.

Because, explained Supian, the water that comes first was taken by the front of the customer, so that the distribution to the ends becomes less strong.

"Moreover, the customers in the front were using machines, of course the fewer end customers getting parts," he said.

He cannot guarantee in the future there will be no more broken pipe. This is related to the age of the pipe which is decades, or ranges from 25-30 years, is still many.

"To overcome the leakage of the pipeline, in the future PDAM Bandarmasih will establish asset management that regulates when pipeline changes will be carried out," he said.
