Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Head of the Secretariat of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) Commission R. Azis Hidayat said South Kalimantan was the second to carry out socialization and ISPO clinics.
He said, the ISPO certification system is quite credible, because it is impartial and independent. ISPO refers to international standards, with audits by certification bodies accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and recognized by the ISPO Commission.
"At present there are 15 certification bodies have been accredited by KAN and received recognition from the ISPO Commission, seven of them from overseas, namely from Germany, Britain, Italy, France, Switzerland and Australia, which were strengthened by 1,516 ISPO auditors," he said.
It is not true, he said, if there are parties who still consider the ISPO certification to not meet international standards. The main problem often occurs in the delayof ISPO certificates, including land legality, because it is related to permits and land ownership.
The benefits of ISPO, among others, increasing compliance of oil palm industry business people with Indonesian laws and regulations, improving governance of the Indonesian palm oil industry, improving environmental quality, preserving forests and biodiversity, managing peatlands responsibly, and preventing land fires .
Participate in and play a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing production and productivity of FFB and CPO, as a result of businesses implementing good practices of sustainable oil palm plantations.
In addition, the increasing competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil and acceptance in the international market.
"Of the 457 ISPO certified companies, 72 percent are members of GAPKI. This is proof of GAPKI's commitment to the success of ISPO," said Head of GAPKI Center for Sustainability Bambang Dwi Laksono.
