Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Typical banana snacks called rimpi (smoked and dried banana fritters) developed by Muhammad Hafizi and his wife Sahnawati in Awang Baru Village, Barabai, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), South Kalimantan, have been marketed to the Middle East.
Sahnawati, when met at her home on Thursday (2/14), said that the home-based business with the label Mama Yanti had begun to develop and advance.
"Currently it has been marketed not only in the district but also outside the province of South Kalimantan, there is even a request from Madinah," she said.
The business was actually begun with the initial capital of only Rp 200 thousand, but now the sales turnover continues to increase and has exceeded expectations.
In line with his wife, Hafizi also revealed that their processed banana rimpi was initially not looked at by consumers.
"Maybe it's because kapas banana is the raw material, but then after buying and tasted the products, they eventually become subscribers," he told.
According to him, the business involved also helped neighbors who had lots of kapas banana plants, so their family income could also be helped.
The Chairwoman of the Family Welfare Movement (TP-PKK) Hj Ernawati Chairansyah also gave her attention to this home-industry. Together with board of the TP PKK HST she visited here.
She suggested that local products add to the variant, so it would be more in demand and expand its market. "In addition to being marketed in stores or kiosks, online promotion through social media and exhibitions is a marketing strategy that has a great chance," Ernawati said.
"In the future cooperation with SMEs and the Trade Agency also needs to be a part of sustainable activities in building partnerships," she added.
