Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission IV overseeing public welfare continues to strive for the fate of status of honorary teachers of category 2 (K2).

"Because the K2 teachers is not included in Government Regulation (PP) Number 49/2018," Deputy Chairperson of Commission IV Iskandar Zulkarnain said here on Friday.

The Commission IV chaired by Yazidie Fauzi from the PKB visited the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) in Jakarta a few days ago.

"We ask the Ministry of Education and Culture to overcome the problems of the K2 teachers. However, the ministry has not been able to accept the proposal to appoint K2 teachers, because there are no provisions to regulate them," said the PPP politician.

The DPRD hopes that the appointment of K2 honorarium teachers is a priority because they have on average served dozens of years, some even 20 years.

"The Ministry recommends that the South Kalimantan Provincial Government overcome the problems of K2 teachers, and designate examples of East Java and Bangka Belitung," he said.

"In East Java, K2 teachers are paid Rp 4 million per month and in Babel Rp 3 million," Iskandar said quoting information from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

While in South Kalimantan K2 teacher salaries per month is Rp1.5 million, from the previous Rp1.3 million. The amount of the honorarium depends on the local financial capacity.
