Paringin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The social organization Sahabat Balangan Center (SBC) prepared a Balangan Shelter House in Banjarmasin, to help families of underprivileged patients referred to Ulin Hospital and others.

The Chairwoman of SBC Dewi Purwanti, Friday (4/1) said that currently many underprivileged people were facilitated by SBC to seek treatment at hospitals in Banjarmasin due to severe illness, such as leukemia, malignant tumors, cancer, and others, which needed serious treatment.

When the patient must be referred to Banjarmasin, not a few families of patients have difficulty getting a place to stay while accompanying the treatment process.

Based on this, she added, the SBC seeks to prepare and facilitate the problem by trying to hold a halfway house or shelter.

"The presence of shelter in Banjarmasin is very important for patients from Balangan who have to undergo treatment for a long time. Not to mention patients have to queue for rooms and care, so they have to stay outside even in the hospital overhang," she said.

When SBC heard there had been a building that would be used as a RumahSinggah Balangan (Balangan Shelter House) in Banjarmasin, on Wednesday (2/1) the team immediately went to the preparation and explored its use later.

The Management Committee of Rumah Singgah Balangan, Adi Darmawan, who worked as staff at Sari Mulya Hospital in Banjarmasin and Volunteer for the Smaven 96 Society, said the shelter is a grant from a generous philanthropist. It is located on Jl Kinibalu, Teluk Dalam Urban Village.

"The Balangan Shelter House will be handled by students from Balangan who study in Banjarmasin. So that they will care for others," he said.
