Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Regent South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry used a bamboo stick to hit lugu, a coconut shell shaped like a heart, to mark the folk game of balugu (or balogo) competition here, Sunday.
While HSS's DPRD speaker H. Ahmad Fahmi, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkupimda), Acting District Secretary H. Hassriansyah, other officials, and executives from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and district government-owned companies watched the moment.
"The balugu competition is held as a form of HSS concern in preserving traditional games that are almost no longer played by children today," said Bahteransyah, head of organizing committee in Kandangan, Sunday (10/12).
188 teams took part. 137 teams were the host participants, three from Central Hulu Sungai (HST), 15 teams from Balangan, 22 teams from Tapin and 12 teams from Tanah Bumbu.
The competition is held for three days from 10 to 12 December 2018.
