Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Education Agency launched the Gerakan Indonesia Membaca (Indonesian Reading Movement) and established Pandulangan Village, Padang Batung Subdistrict, as a literacy village.
The head of the agency Nordiansyah in Pandulangan, Saturday (1/11) reported that the Gerakan Indonesia Membaca is an activity to build a community reading culture that is conducted cross-sectorally.
"This movement involves various elements in the community as well as partners of the Education Agency, such as the Library and Archives Office. It aims to build the commitment of the District Government in improving the culture and community participation in reading," he said.
While the designation of Pandulangan Village as a village of literacy was based on the background that in this village there is a Cluster Community Learning Center (PKBM).
PKBM is active and has been running well and has various work programs to improve the quality of human resources for the villagers, such as the package B program, package C, independent business functional literacy programs, village libraries and others.
HSS Regent H. Achmad Fikry said his appreciation and gratitude for a number of central government policies that have given the district the opportunity to be an area of the Gerakan Indonesia Membaca and the Village of Literacy.
