Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Banjarmasin Environment Agency targets Rp14 billion in waste retribution in 2019. IDR4,000 in waste fee is collected for each house which is paid through the tap water (PDAM) account.

Actually, said the head of the agency Mukhyar, the target for the next locally derived income (PAD) from the garbage fee has been set in the 2018 revised budget (APBD-P).

"Previously the target in 2018 pure local budget was IDR13 billion, then in the discussion of the 2018 revised local budget (APBD-P) we enlarged the number to IDR14 billion, this plan continued in the 2019 pure budget," he explained at the city legislative council on Thursday.

Mukhyar said so far 80 percent of the target has been reached. "We are sure, the IDR 14 billion will be achieved by the end of 2018," he said.

The reason for him, the development of residential housing continues to increase in the city and that means that garbage collection fees will automatically increase as well.

"So, indeed, the revenue from our agency is only focused on garbage levy through PDAM accounts, other sectors are few," he said.

There is a partial income for the agency in the Basirih final waste disposal (TPA), but only a few taken from private who dispose of their waste here. "One truck is only IDR10,000, and it is not certain to be available every day, so it doesn't contribute much," he said.

Mukhyar pointed out that the agency will continue to improve the city cleaning program because the production of garbage every day is increasing, now around 650 tons per day.

"Indeed, handling waste in the city is full of challenges, not only transportation facilities and temporary trash facilities are limited. But how the whole community is aware of not throwing garbage into the river, this is the hardest," he concluded.
