Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Central Hulu Sungai (HST) keeps pursuing to be a filariasis-free district. Acting Regent H A Chairansyah Tuesday (10/23) officially announced the Filariasis Mass Prevention Medicine (POPM) program.


Chairansyah also immediately took the medicine to give an example to the attendees. He revealed that this is a government effort to reduce and overcome filariasis.

He hopes all parties will further increase the support and participation to invite the community to take medicines distributed by health workers who will visit the homes of the target treatment residents.

"I expect the support and cooperation of all parties for the success of the activity," Chairansyah said.

Head of the HST Health Agency drg H Kusudiarto said POPM is a preventive program that targets residents aged 2-70 years with a treatment coverage target of 95 percent.

"This program is implemented for five years starting in 2013, and 2018 is the last year of its implementation on HST," said Kusudiarto.

The activity which was accompanied by an evaluation of the Measles and Rubella immunization campaign attended by the South Kalimantan Health Agency, HST DPRD members, community leaders, religious leaders, sub-district heads and health cadres throughout the HST.
