Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded a 0.06 percent deflation in September in South Kalimantan. The deflation is a combination of two cities, Banjarmasin and Tanjung.


Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami said in Banjarbaru on Monday a deflation in Banjarmasin was 0,05 percent, while in Tanjung 0,28 percent.

"The cumulative inflation rate in Banjarmasin in September to December 2017 was 1.62 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung was 1.94 percent," he said.

Commodities that experienced price declines with the highest deflationary share in Banjarmasin included chicken meat, broiler eggs, papuyu (climbing perch) fish, watermelon and long eggplants.

However, some commodities experienced price increases with the highest inflation share including snakehead fish (haruan), sweet bread, air transport, shoes, and tilapia.

While in Tanjung the price decline with the highest deflation share occurred in hot chili, tomato vegetables, onion, red chili, and sweet corn.

"Commodities that experience price increases with the highest inflation share include the cost of higher education, rice with side dishes, chicken meat, filter clove cigarettes and long beans," he explained.

BPS also noted the consumer price index in 82 cities recorded 16 cities experiencing inflation, and 66 deflation. The highest deflation occurred in Pare-Pare at 1.59 percent.
