Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that South Kalimantan experienced a deflation of 0.14 percent in February 2018.
Head of South Kalimantan BPS Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Thursday said deflation in the city of Banjarmasin is at 0.14 percent, while in Tanjung reached 0.16 percent.
"The February cumulative inflation rate to December 2017 in Banjarmasin is 0.14 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung is 0.23 percent," she said.
Deflation occurred, due to the decline in prices of some commodities with the highest deflationary share in Banjarmasin, among others, air transport, chicken eggs, red onion, wet shrimp, and perfume.
"During February, Banjarmasin experienced a deflation of 0.14 percent or a decline in consumer price index from 131.49 in January to 130.30," she told.
Meanwhile, in the Tanjung commodities with the highest deflationary share of them are green mustard greens, chicken meat, beans, spinach, and eggs.
"Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share include watermelon, rice, cork fish, garlic, and vegetable tomatoes," said Head of South Kalimantan BPS.
BPS also noted the consumer price index in 82 cities recorded 55 cities experienced inflation and 27 deflation. The highest inflation occured in Jayapura at 1.05 percent.
